Clocked

Privacy Policy

Clocked reads a conversation you paste, then forgets it. Your history stays on your phone.

Last updated: October 7, 2026

1. The short version

Clocked is a reading tool. You paste a conversation, it comes back with a score, a band, the patterns it noticed, and a one-line verdict. This policy explains exactly what leaves your phone to make that happen, what does not, and what we keep.

We have tried to write this in plain language rather than in the usual hedging. Where something leaves your device, we say so.

2. No account, no sign-up

Clocked does not ask you to create an account. There is no email address, no password, and nothing to log in to. The name, age range, gender and focus you can give during onboarding are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to us. They shape what you see in the app and nothing else. You can clear them at any time with Delete everything in Settings.

3. Conversations you paste

To produce a read, the text of the conversation has to be analysed, and that analysis does not happen on your phone. So the conversation — after the scrubbing described in the next section — is sent over an encrypted connection to Clocked’s reading service, analysed, and the result is returned to your phone.

The conversation is not stored after the read is produced. It is held in memory for as long as the request takes and is not written to a database, a log, or a file. We cannot show you a conversation you pasted last week, because we do not have it. The only copy is the one on your phone, if you chose to keep it.

A read, and the install and configuration calls described in section 8, are served by the same Catalyst App Labs endpoint. What keeps them apart is what each request carries, not where it goes: an install or configuration request never contains anything from a conversation, a read, or a pattern name, and a read request carries no campaign information, no install identifier and no analytics history. We do not join a read to your analytics record, and because the conversation is not kept there is nothing left afterwards to join.

One exception, because it is easier to state than to hide. If you are a subscriber, a read request also carries your subscription identifier, so the service can confirm the subscription is active. It is the same random device identifier described in section 8. It is used for that check and is not stored against the request, the conversation, or the result.

4. What is removed before anything is sent

Before a conversation can leave your device, Clocked replaces identifying details with neutral placeholders. This happens on your phone, not on a server:

You see the scrubbed version on a review screen before anything is sent, and you can edit it. Anything you type on that screen is scrubbed again by the same rules. The map from a placeholder back to the original text exists only in your phone’s memory for the length of that one read and is never transmitted, so nothing downstream — including us — can un-redact it.

No scrubber is perfect. If something identifying survives it, you can edit it out on the review screen before sending.

5. How the read is produced

The reading service uses a third-party AI model provider to analyse the scrubbed conversation and generate the score, patterns and verdict. The scrubbed text is sent to that provider solely to produce your read. It is processed under a commercial agreement that does not permit the provider to use it to train their models, and it is not retained by us afterwards.

We name this openly because you deserve to know that a third party processes the text. If you would rather not have a conversation analysed at all, do not paste it — the bundled sample reads let you see exactly how the app works using fictional conversations, with no network connection and no payment.

6. Screenshots

If you import screenshots instead of pasting text, the text is extracted from the images on your device using Apple’s on-device text recognition. The images themselves are never uploaded. Only the extracted text continues through the same scrubbing and review described above.

7. Your history lives on your phone

Every read you keep is stored locally on your device and nowhere else. By default Clocked also stores the full read — the conversation as sent and the complete result — on the device so you can reopen it. You can turn that off with Keep full reads in History in Settings, which also deletes every full read already stored, leaving only the score, band and pattern names.

Delete everything in Settings removes all of it from the device immediately. Your history may also be included in your own iCloud or computer backups if you have those enabled; those are controlled by you under your Apple account, and we have no access to them.

8. App analytics

So we can tell how many people install and use the app and whether purchases work, Clocked sends a small amount of technical information. None of it contains anything you pasted, any result, any pattern name, or any onboarding answer.

You can turn off the product-interaction events at any time with Share usage analytics in Settings.

9. Purchases

Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment card or bank details. We use RevenueCat as our subscription-management provider; it receives the device identifier described above and the status of your subscription so the app can tell whether your subscription is active. Apple provides us only standard, aggregated sales reporting.

10. Reporting a read

If you report a read as wrong or harmful, we receive the report’s reason, an identifier for that read, and whatever you type in the optional note. A person at Catalyst App Labs may read that note, so please do not include anything in it you would not want a human to see. We use reports only to investigate the problem and improve the app.

11. No advertising, no tracking

Clocked shows no ads. It uses no advertising identifiers, runs no ad-network SDKs, and performs no tracking as Apple defines it — your data is not linked with data from other companies’ apps or websites for advertising or measurement, and it is never shared with data brokers. Because of this, Clocked does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission: there is nothing to ask about. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

12. Children’s privacy

Clocked is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, please contact us and we will act promptly.

13. Your choices and your rights

Most of your control is in the app itself and takes effect immediately: turn off Keep full reads in History, turn off Share usage analytics, or use Delete everything. Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device.

Depending on where you live — including the UK, the EEA and certain US states — you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information we hold, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. Email hello@catalystapplabs.com and we will help; we usually reply within a few business days and will not treat you differently for asking.

In practice there is little for us to return: we hold no conversations, no reads, and no account. Where a request concerns the identifiers described in section 8, please include the device identifier from Settings › Version so we can locate the right records.

14. Security

Everything Clocked sends travels over encrypted connections, and the connections that carry a read refuse to follow redirects at all, so neither the conversation nor the credentials that accompany it can be diverted to another address. On-device storage uses iOS file protection, and you can require Face ID to open the app with Require Face ID in Settings. The reading service uses Apple’s App Attest to confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of the app, which is how abuse is limited without accounts. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not retain the sensitive material in the first place, which is the strongest protection available.

15. Who we are and where this applies

Clocked is made by Catalyst App Labs Pte. Ltd., 68 Circular Road, #02-01, Singapore 049422, Singapore, which is the data controller for the information described here. Our providers operate in other countries, including the United States, so the limited information described above may be processed outside your own. Where the law requires a transfer mechanism, we rely on the relevant standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

16. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page, and we will tell you in the app if the change is significant. Continuing to use Clocked after a change means you accept the updated policy.
