You enter your pay and start a shift. From that moment, Secondly ticks your earnings upward second by second, down to the cent, based on the rate you gave it. Everything is worked out on your device from the wage you type in, so the counter reflects your input rather than any connection to an employer or bank. The result is an estimate meant to give you a live sense of what you’re earning, not an official record of pay.

Yes. You can enter either an hourly wage or a monthly salary, and Secondly does the math for whichever wage type you choose. Once a shift is running, your earnings tick up the same way regardless of how you entered your pay.

Secondly supports overtime rates for hours worked beyond your usual. When a shift moves into overtime, the counter applies your overtime rate so the running total keeps pace with what those extra hours are worth to you. As with everything in the app, the figures are estimates based on the rates you set.

Yes. Secondly includes an Apple Watch app, so you can start a shift, pause it, and glance at your earnings straight from your wrist. You’ll need an Apple Watch paired with your iPhone to use the Watch features.

While a shift is running, Secondly uses Live Activities to keep your earnings in view on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so you can check your progress without opening the app. If you don’t see the Live Activity, make sure Live Activities are turned on for Secondly in iOS Settings — there are steps for this further down under Troubleshooting.

Secondly offers Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets that keep your earnings a glance away. It also supports StandBy, which turns a charging iPhone into a bedside earnings display — handy when your phone is propped up and charging. You can add widgets the same way you add any iOS widget, by touching and holding the Home Screen or Lock Screen and choosing Secondly.

Goals let you set something you’re working toward and dedicate a slice of every shift to it. As you work, you can watch the goal fill in real time, right down to the moment you cross the line. It’s a way to tie the hours you put in to something concrete.

“Worth It?” converts any price into the hours and minutes of your time it would cost you. Enter what something costs, and Secondly shows you how much of your working time it represents — a simple way to think through a spending decision. The figures are estimates based on the wage you entered.

Shift Receipt is an end-of-shift recap that sums up what you just earned. Weekly Wrapped is a weekly recap of your earnings, hours, and wins. Both are built from your own shifts on your device, giving you a look back without any of your data leaving your phone.

Secondly includes streaks to help you keep momentum, with freeze tokens you can use to protect a streak when you take a break. There are also achievements to unlock and weekly challenges to take on. They’re there to make showing up a little more rewarding.

Ticks are an in-app reward you collect as you work. You can redeem them for themes and looks that change how Secondly appears. Ticks and cosmetic items have no monetary value — they can’t be exchanged for cash or transferred to anyone else.

Secondly is private by design. There’s no account to create, no bank or financial-account linking, no ads, and no third-party tracking. Everything runs on your device, and the wage, salary, earnings, and goals you enter never leave your phone to reach us — Catalyst App Labs Pte. Any optional in-app purchases are processed by Apple through your App Store account, and we never receive your payment card or bank details. Because Apple handles the transaction, refunds and purchase management go through Apple as well. To request a refund, use Apple’s Report a Problem page, and to view or manage your purchases and billing, see Apple’s billing help. Note that Ticks and cosmetic items have no cash value and can’t be exchanged for cash or transferred.

First, open iOS Settings and confirm that Live Activities are enabled for Secondly. Make sure your iPhone is running an up-to-date version of iOS. If it still doesn’t appear, close and reopen Secondly, start a fresh shift, and if needed restart your iPhone before trying again.

Keep your iPhone and Apple Watch nearby and make sure both are updated to recent software. Reopen Secondly on both the iPhone and the Watch so they can sync, and restart either device if the Watch still isn’t catching up.

Widgets refresh periodically rather than every second, so a small delay is normal. Opening Secondly prompts a refresh. If a widget still looks out of date, remove it and add it again from the Home Screen or Lock Screen.
